Requirement to Test
There is growing evidence to support work place counselling and is one of the most used of employee assistance programs. We often make recommendations for counselling for a whole range of situations from personal issues such as bereavement, overcoming illness, and one of the biggest referrals is for stress related problems.
It is a cost effective way of reducing absenteeism, boosting morale by promoting a supportive working environment. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people are suffering from high levels of stress which equates to approx. 6.7 million working days lost each year.
The duration and number of counselling sessions is subject to individual cases and an estimate and recommendation will be made on a case by case basis, typically between 2 and 6 sessions following which further referrals may be required to other agencies or the health service if appropriate.
Appropriate Range of Services
Not all counselling is the same and some services can be too general. We will always try to recommend a specific course of action and tailor the service, which may range from traditional talking therapies to the Cognitive Behavioural therapies (CBT), Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy.
As part of the counselling process the Practitioner will gather both personal and medical information which is kept confidential. All such records will be kept off site with the provider An Employee may consent to records being viewed or disclosed to a third party if necessary.
A summary of the employee’s progress with any work place recommendations will be provided where appropriate to assist the employee and employer to manage any issues and make any reasonable adjustments that may be suggested.
